THE EFFECT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL CAPITAL ON JOB SATISFACTION IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF HAPPINESS AT WORK

Öz

Educational institutions are commonly accepted as the working environments where employees are exposed to high levels of stress and burnout due to their nature. By referring to the positive psychology perspective, the study investigates the role of psychological capital on job satisfaction in such organizations. The mediating effect of workplace happiness in the mentioned relationship was also tested to provide a more holistic perspective. The data of the research were collected through structured questionnaires from 240 employees working in a private educational institution operating in Adana province. Findings reveal that both psychological capital and happiness at work positively affect job satisfaction. In addition, it has been concluded that the effect of psychological capital on job satisfaction, although partially, is through happiness at work. The study are expected to contribute to the body of knowledge by reassessing the positive psychological assumptions in educational institutions whose workers are exposed to excessive stress. The findings are also expected to guide the management of human resources activities in this sector.

Eğitim Kurumlarında Psikolojik Sermayenin İş Tatminine Etkisi: İş’te Mutluluğun Aracılık Rolü

Öz

Eğitim kurumları doğası gereği çalışanların yüksek düzeyde stres ve tükenmişliğe maruz kaldıkları çalışma ortamları olarak bilinmektedir. Pozitif psikoloji yaklaşımına atıfta bulunan bu çalışmanın amacı bu türden örgütlerde bireylerin sahip oldukları psikolojik sermaye ile iş doyum düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Daha bütüncül bir bakış açısı ortaya koymak adında bahsedilen ilişkide iş’te mutluluğun aracılık etkisi de test edilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri Adana ilinde faaliyet gösteren özel bir eğitim kurumunda istihdam edilen 240 çalışandan yapılandırılmış anketler yoluyla toplanmıştır. Bulgular hem psikolojik sermayenin hem de iş’te mutluluğun iş tatminini olumlu etkilediğini ortaya koymaktadır. Ayrıca psikolojik sermayenin iş tatmini üzerine etkisini kısmi de olsa iş’te mutluluk üzerinden gerçekleştirdiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Araştırmanın stresli bir çalışma ortamına sahip eğitim kurumlarında pozitif psikoloji varsayımlarını bütüncül bir şekilde yeniden test etmesi noktasında yazına katkı sunması beklenmektedir. Elde edilen bulguların ayrıca eğitim sektöründe insan kaynakları faaliyetlerinin yönetilmesine rehberlik etmesi beklenmektedir.

Yönetim Bilimleri Dergisi 2024 yılının Eylül ayında “Endüstri 4.0 ve Dijitalleşmenin Sosyal Bilimlerde Yansımaları” başlıklı bir özel sayı yayınlayacaktır.
Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi Biga İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi tarafından 5-6 Temmuz 2024 tarihlerinde çevrimiçi olarak düzenlenecek olan 4. Uluslararası Sosyal Bilimler Konferansı’nda sunum gerçekleştiren yazarların dergi için ücret yatırmasına gerek olmayıp, dekont yerine Konferans Katılım Belgesini sisteme yüklemeleri yeterli olacaktır.
Gönderilen makalelerin derginin yazım kurallarına uygun olması ve DergiPark sistemi üzerinden sisteme yüklenmesi gerekmektedir. Özel sayı ana başlığı ile ilgisiz makaleler değerlendirmeye alınmayacaktır. Özel sayı için gönderilen makalelerin "Makalemi özel sayıya göndermek istiyorum" kutucuğu işaretlenerek sisteme yüklenmesi gerekmektedir. Özel sayı için gönderilmemiş makalelerin bu sayıya eklenmesi mümkün olmayacaktır.
