Abstract
Bu çalışmanın temel amacı,
genel bağlamda günümüz toplumlarında görülen “şiddet” olgusunun; özel bağlamda
ise “aile içi ve kadına karşı şiddet” sorununun, toplumların “gerçek”
demokratikleşme seviyeleri ile doğrusal ilişki içerisinde olduğunu ortaya
koymaktır. Maruz nedenle, bu çalışmanın esas konusu, bir toplumdaki şiddet
seviyesinin, ilgili toplumun sahip olduğunu zannettiği ve söylemde kalan
normatif değil, ampirik demokratik nitelikler ve yurttaşlık olgusu ile ilişkili
olduğudur. Zira şiddet, demokrasi ve yurttaşlık arasındaki ampirik ilişki,
mevcut olan “reel” doğrusal bağlantıyı ortaya koyma anlamında önemlidir.
Normatif ilişki, gerek şiddet, gerek demokrasi ve gerekse de yurttaş
kavramlarını sözlük anlamından hareketle tanımlar. Hâlbuki demokrasinin iyi
işlemediği hemen hemen tüm dünya toplumlarında şiddet, bir şekilde en önemli
toplumsal sorunlardan birisini teşkil etmektedir ve ampirik bir nitelik
taşımaktadır.
