Bio

Dr. Teich is a Biologist with a strong background in Applied Spatial Statistics. Over the last 15 years she has worked as a Researcher in the field of Ecology and Evolution and as a Professor of Biostatistics in Argentina. She currently works for the World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as a Geospatial and Land Degradation Neutrality specialist supporting countries to achieve their SDGs targets. She provides tools and evidence based solutions to decision makers to better allocate resources and prioritize sites for interventions using new technologies and bottom up approaches based on local knowledge.
Her research is focused on the spatial and temporal variation of ecosystem properties such as genetic diversity, evapotranspiration and primary productivity as well as the ecosystem services to which they contribute (biodiversity conservation, climate regulation, water provision, among others). For this, she integrates data derived from remote sensors and hydrological models as well as genomic, morphological and physiological data of species of interest, combining approaches of spatial statistics, conservation biology, landscape ecology, and population modeling and genetics.
